Historical exposition in Grand Sova

The XIX century Barn-Museum

The XIX century Barn-Museum.

Grand Sova honours local traditions and history. The history of ancient Ples is presented in the Museum of Ancient Russian Life - in a XIX century barn.

A lot of things on Varvarinskaya Street have been left unchanged since old times. We have preserved a piece of living history that is so intertwined with the present. Our museum contains local peasant household items: spinning wheels, copper and wooden ladles, troughs, stove hooks. Museum exhibits seem as if they were last used just yesterday, and not a century ago. They took care of things, because their price was quite high. Not only the exhibits are valuable, but also the barn itself, because every plaque there has been preserved almost pristine.

The lobby of our mini-hotel will delights youwith its unique interior and especially with the glass floor, which is placed over an archaeological excavations that previously took place at Grand Sova construction site. A X-XII centuries peasant hut floor has been recreated in this small area. Behind the thick glass there is a real museum exhibit: a plank floor, the preserved remains of a stove, several clay pots, small utensils and archaeological equipment (a photographic rail, a lancet, a brush and a drawing of the investigated dwelling).

This living history inside our cosy hotel allows you to stop the passage of time for a few days and enjoy a happy holiday away from worries and business.
